The Permanent Secretariat of the Political Bureau (SPBP) of the Workers’ Party (PT) informs public opinion that today, Sunday 12 May, the collective of lawyers was able to see Louisa Hanoune for the first time in the Prison of Blida where she has been incarcerated since Thursday 9 May.

The collective of lawyers has informed us that Louisa Hanoune has appealed, 24 hours after her arrest, the investigating judge’s decision to take her into custody. The appeal will be examined at her hearing, scheduled for Monday 20 May.

The collective also informed us that she had very good morale and showed a great serenity, since she has done absolutely nothing wrong as concerns her actions and activities as a political leader or as a citizen.

Informed of the different positions taken against her incarceration, she wanted to salute and thank the political parties, the union organisations, the political and union leaders, the national personalities, the lawyers, the journalists, the students and citizens who have shown their solidarity and have called for her liberation. She also saluted the National Committee for her liberation that was formed yesterday at the national headquarters of the PT and the international campaign led by the International Liaison Committee of workers and peoples (ILC).

The SPBP renews its call for the multiplication and intensification of the campaign.

The SPBP informs the journalists and all citizens that it will organise daily trips of militants, with all the friends who would like to go, to the military tribunal until Louisa Hanoune is freed.

For us, to defend Louisa Hanoune is to defend the freedoms of the Algerian people as a whole.
