As co-coordinator of the ILC, with comrade Louisa Hanoune, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Algeria, I inform you that Louisa Hanoune was taken into custody, 9 May, by the Military Tribunal of Blida (Algeria).

You will find attached the communiqué published by the Workers’ Party the evening of 9 May, which we ask to make known, as quickly as possible, to all the organisations and members of the ILC and to all the organisations and activists of the democratic labour movement.

In Algeria, positions have already been taken, notably by the Algerian League for  the Defence of Human Rights; you will find excerpts of their communiqué enclosed.

We will keep you regularly informed of what happens and of the initiatives and positions taken.
