Letter to the coordination of ILC

20 July, 2017

To the members of the coordination of the International Liaison Committee of workers and peoples

Algiers, Paris, 13 July 2017

Dear comrades,

Taking into account the constraints of several comrades, we propose a meeting of the coordination next 9 and 10 September in Paris to evaluate the state of preparations for the 9th open world conference (OWC) and its finalisation.

Within this framework, the Political Bureau of the Workers’ Party (PT) of Algeria proposes postponing the OWC to the 8, 9 and 10 December, still in Algiers.

This change of date is motivated by the holding of local elections from September to November (preparation of the lists, sponsorship signature campaign, electoral campaign and, finally, the vote). Consequently, the PT will be mobilised around this election.

For this reason, the postponement to December will permit to preserve the chances of success for the OWC, from the point of view of the reception of the participants and the material conditions. Of course, we cannot wait for the meeting of the coordination in September to decide, in other words, a month from the dates initially planned: 7, 8 and 9 October.

In our opinion, we must inform the signatories of the call for the CMO to allow the participants to make the necessary arrangements.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Fraternal greetings.

Louisa Hanoune,
member of the Coordination of the ILC and general secretary of the PT (Algeria)

Geoffrey Excoffon,
member of the Coordination of the ILC and the National Bureau of the POI (France)
